Peppy was loved on for 17 years by a family who took wonderful care of her, as she and her horsey friend Princess raised them! When the kids grew up, Peppy spent her days relaxing with Princess. But when Princess passed away, Peppy was depressed. Hannah Cargill, her family member caring for her, donated her to Take Heart on May 17, 2020 to be a healing horse and make new horsey friends. We knew when we met her that she would be perfect!

When Peppy arrived, she was very upset and didn’t understand why she was in this new place. It took her a few weeks to begin to settle in. Her donor Hannah came to visit, and Peppy was so happy to see her! But when Hannah left, Peppy was upset all over again. It took a few more weeks for Peppy to really settle in. Peppy has now settled in – she LOVES her mare herd, especially Flicka, and she and Flicka will call to each other if separated! She also has developed special connections with clients and staff alike.

Peppy is a gentle, steady soul with large, kind eyes. She is easy for any age to handle and dependable when ridden too. Her chunky, halter-horse conformation and slight pigeon-toe makes her trot and canter very uncomfortable, so while she will do them, she does best at the walk. She is great for riders being led or riding independently. She can often be found sound asleep snoring in the field with her friends. Peppy loves to be scratched on her back and isn’t afraid to ask for it – she will position herself right where she wants you to scratch her!Peppy’s words from God are “Loyal & Faithful.”
