Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts. —Winston Churchill

Alexa believes that animals can bring joy, comfort, and a sense of connection that make life richer. She loves sharing her passion for animals and using it to support others in her practice, helping clients build positivity, resilience, and balance in their lives. Through self-discovery, personal growth, and meaningful connections, Alexa aims to guide individuals to live a more joyful, authentic, and fulfilling life. She especially enjoys working with children and teens, helping them grow through their challenges and become the best version of themselves.

Alexa graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in the spring of 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. In the fall of 2023, she began her graduate studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lebanon Valley College and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2026.  Alexa began her graduate internship at TakeHeart this year, as the placement was a perfect match for both her passion for mental health and her love of working with animals. Following graduation in the spring, she plans to pursue licensure to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania.

Alongside her graduate studies and path to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Alexa is pursuing certification through the Natural Lifemanship Institute, gaining specialized training in trauma-informed, evidence-based equine-assisted psychotherapy.

In her free time, Alexa enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, often accompanied by her two dogs, Tucker and Tyko, and her bunny, Toby. She loves exploring the outdoors, whether it’s taking a quiet walk in nature or simply enjoying the fresh air. Alexa also enjoys expressing her creativity in various ways, including pottery, country line dancing, gardening, and baking. These hobbies allow her to relax, have fun, and bring a sense of joy and balance to her life.

What Horses Did For Me...

Horses have given me a profound sense of purpose in my life and career. Before joining Take Heart, I often felt overwhelmed and unsure about the direction I wanted to take with my counseling studies. It wasn’t until I discovered equine assisted therapy that I began to find clarity and direction, realizing that God had a purpose in leading me here. Working with horses has shown me how much they can promote healing, personal growth, and humility. Their intuition and ability to reflect the goodness within others continue to inspire me and shape both my personal and professional journey.
