Liberty & Connection: Learn Natural Horsemanship Groundwork in Wernersville, PA

What does true partnership with a horse look like? It’s not found in control or commands—it’s discovered in the quiet moments of mutual understanding, when a horse chooses to stay with you, to follow you, to trust you, even when they’re completely free to walk away.

This spring, we’re inviting you to experience that kind of connection through our Liberty & Connection 101 group at Take Heart Counseling in Wernersville, PA.

What is Liberty Horse Training?

Liberty work—working with horses without physical restraints like ropes or halters—is often seen as an advanced skill. But at its heart, it’s about something far more fundamental: building a relationship rooted in trust, respect, and clear communication. This natural horsemanship approach creates willing partners rather than obedient followers.

Over four weeks, you’ll learn the foundational principles that make true partnership possible through guided groundwork exercises and liberty training techniques.

Learn Natural Horsemanship Groundwork Skills

Through guided liberty exercises and intentional groundwork, you’ll discover how to read the subtle body language cues horses are always offering. You’ll learn to regulate your own energy and develop the kind of calm, confident presence that horses naturally want to be around.

Key skills you’ll develop:
  • Reading horse body language and behavioral cues
  • Building trust through relationship-based horse training
  • Practicing groundwork exercises that strengthen communication
  • Developing emotional awareness and self-regulation
  • Creating connection without force or coercion
You’ll practice these horse training techniques in a supportive group setting where personal growth happens alongside horsemanship skills.

Relationship-Based Horse Training Near Reading, PA

At Take Heart, we don’t believe in force-based training methods. Our approach to natural horsemanship is grounded in understanding how horses think, what they need to feel safe, and how we can show up as trustworthy partners. Liberty & Connection 101 teaches you to communicate in ways that honor the horse’s choice and consent.

Whether you’re brand new to horses or have years of riding experience, this groundwork training will deepen your understanding of what it means to truly connect. The skills you develop here become the foundation for everything else you do with horses, in any discipline or setting—from trail riding to dressage to simply spending quality time with your equine companion.
