As babies, Apollo and Zeus were rescued by their donor from a neglect situation. She had them since they were about 6 months old, and Zeke was born at the farm, after Zeus snuck into the mares’ field as a young horse! Zeke’s mother tragically passed away when he was a week old, and the family bottle-fed him as a baby. They were trained to do trail rides, and Zeus & Apollo made a great driving team to do light farm work! The donor family fell on hard times, and we are honored they made the decision to donate these three to Take Heart.

Zeke has an independent streak and takes a little longer to build your trust. He is playful and really smart, and loves being groomed. He is learning to connect authentically. His movement is big and powerful and a joy to watch. His name is from Ezekiel in the Bible and means “God strengthens.” Ezekiel was also a very bold prophet during the time of Israel’s captivity, prophesying of new life being breathed into dry bones (Ezekiel 37). We know Zeke is going to play an important role in many lives to strengthen them as they boldly work through deep wounds to find new life. His word from God is “Bold.”
